The Caring House Project - Volunteering in Haiti
SUNSET began participating in Frank McKinney’s Caring House Project in 2013 when Sunset Buildings owner, Tom Ford and Construction Manager Reuben Yoder traveled to Haiti to help build homes for the homeless. That year SUNSET donated a total of four homes to desperately poor and devastated families in the country of Haiti.
Since 2003, the Caring House Project has housed more than 9,000 people and thousands more are alive because of the efforts of the CHP and volunteers like SUNSET.
In 2014, the Caring House Project built its 21st self-sufficient village in Ravine a’ Couleuvre – a small Haitan enclave near the town of L’Estere (population 3,000). The village is located on the northwest coast of Haiti.
