The Caring House Project - Volunteering in Haiti
This year one of our long-time employees, Scott, will be going to Haiti to participate in a very special project with Owner Tom Ford.
SUNSET Sheds began participating in Frank McKinney’s Caring House Project in 2013 when Ford and Construction Manager Reuben Yoder traveled to Haiti to help build homes for the homeless. That year SUNSET donated a total of four homes to desperately poor and devastated families in the country of Haiti.
Since 2003, the Caring House Project has housed more than 9,000 people and thousands more are alive because of the efforts of the CHP and volunteers like SUNSET.
You can learn more about the project in this article, titled “Compassion without Action is a Waste of Emotion,” which also includes some footage of what the Caring House Project did immediately following the Haiti earthquake.
In 2014, the Caring House Project plans to build its 21st self-sufficient village in Ravine a’ Couleuvre – a small Haitan enclave near the town of L’Estere (population 3,000). The village is located on the northwest coast of Haiti.
